Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic could be heading to Watford to be reunited with coach Marco Silva.

Markovic enjoyed a successful loan spell at Hull City during the second half of last season, where Silva was able to reignite some of the form that once made the Serbian a £20 million player.

Liverpool still hope to get back most of that outlay for the winger, who is surplus to requirements on Merseyside.

Now Silva has taken over at Vicarage Road, Watford have expressed their interest in the 23-year-old. The Hornets meet Liverpool in the opening game of next season.

However, they are not alone in the pursuit of Markovic as Zenit St Petersburg are also tracking the former Benfica winger. Liverpool have also been contacted by several clubs in Portugal and Italy.

Markovic is among several Liverpool players the Merseysiders will make available this summer as they hope to raise a minimum of £50m with some high profile exits.

As well as Markovic, Liverpool are awaiting bids for left back Alberto Moreno. Moreno, who barely started for Klopp last year as he was demoted behind James Milner, is attracting interest from both Inter Milan and AC Milan, although it is believed La Liga remains a more likely destination. Liverpool value Moreno at £12m.

They are also awaiting formal bids for Mamadou Sakho but will not be moved from their £30 million price tag on the French international.

That price has proved prohibitive to Crystal Palace, where Sakho excelled following his loan move to Selhurst Park last January. His recruitment eased Palace’s relegation fears at a pivotal time. But Sakho still harbours aspirations to join a club in the Champions League.

Liverpool have already agreed the sale of defender Andre Wisdom to Derby Country in a deal which could rise to £4.5 million.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have confirmed two more pre-season dates as they will face neighbours Tranmere Rovers on July 12 and make the short journey to Wigan two days later.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirms Lazar Markovic's Anfield career is over

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Lazar Markovic has no future at Anfield, report the Liverpool Echo.

The Serbian winger featured in the opening friendly of the summer against Tranmere but was left out of the squad for the tour of Hong Kong.

Markovic cost Liverpool £20million from Benfica three years ago but made just 34 appearances for the club.

He had loan spells at Sporting Lisbon and Hull City last season and now the Reds are looking to off-load him on a permanent basis.

“With Lazar, it’s no secret that if he finds a club then we will negotiate. It was like this last year too,” Klopp told the ECHO.

“He’s a really good player. I like him as a person.

“He’s now fit and another one who is in the best shape since I’ve known him.

“Before he had problems with his groin but now he’s good. There will be a club out there who needs him.”

Lazar Markovic has been left out of Liverpool’s squad for friendlies in Germany after holding talks with Fiorentina.

The Serbia forward is surplus to requirements at Anfield and has spent the last two seasons out on loan, first at Fenerbahce and then Sporting Lisbon.

Markovic was recalled from his stint in Portugal to join Hull in January where he enjoyed some success.

He played 45 minutes in Liverpool’s first friendly of the summer at Tranmere but has not featured since and was left behind for the Premier League Asia Trophy in Hong Kong.

Press Association Sport understands the 23-year-old has met Fiorentina to discuss a move but Liverpool are holding out for £16million, having paid Benfica £20m for his services back in 2014.

Watford are also interested in Markovic but are not prepared to pay the Reds’ asking price, which makes any deal unlikely.

Winger Sheyi Ojo has also not travelled to Germany for friendlies against Hertha Berlin, Bayern Munich and either Atletico Madrid or Napoli as he weighs up his options with a number of clubs – including Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Aston Villa – interested in taking him on loan.

Watford are also reportedly interested in Markovic but are not prepared to pay the Reds' asking price, making a deal unlikely.

A 30-man-squad travelled to Germany for games against Hertha Berlin, Bayern Munich and either Atletico Madrid or Napoli, but winger Sheyi Ojo was another absentee.
