Tottenham keen on Hoffenheim defender Jeremy Toljan

Tottenham are showing interest in Hoffenheim right-back Jeremy Toljan, according to Sky sources.

The 22-year-old impressed for Germany's U21s at the recent European Championships, which Germany won, and made 20 Bundesliga appearances last term.

Sky sources reported last month that Toljan was one of a number of potential replacements they had scouted to replace Kyle Walker, who joined Manchester City for over £50m a fortnight ago.

Porto's Ricardo Pereira was another but the Portuguese club have recently indicated that Spurs may have to stump up his entire £22m release clause.

Toljan is among new considerations but he is also reportedly of interest to a glut of top clubs following his showing in Poland, and a source has told Sky Sports News that Chelsea and Liverpool are also keen.

Toljan has just a year left on his contract and his market value in Germany is said to be little more than £3m, making him an even more attractive proposition.

Hoffenheim director of football Alex Rosen told German newspaper Bild on Tuesday that they could not compete with the likes of Spurs in terms of wages for a young player.

He said: "If Tottenham come in and offer to treble Toljan's salary, you cannot say: 'London is an unattractive city or Tottenham are a bad club. This is all very positive, and then young people think about it."

NO SPURS CONTACT OVER TOLJAN

Every Premier League club has done some incoming business in this window, every Premier League club except one, Tottenham Hotspur.

TOLJAN VALUED AT AROUND £13M

Hoffenheim value Tottenham target Jeremy Toljan in the region of £13m (15m euros), Sky Sports News understands. The 22-year-old Germany U21 right-back is of interest to Spurs as they look to replace Kyle Walker.

Toljan has just a year left on his current contract but Hoffenheim are understood to value him just a few million less than defender Niklas Sule, whom they recently sold to Bayern Munch for £17m.

Spurs are yet to make an official approach for Toljan but Hoffenheim have had solid enquiries from clubs in Spain and Italy, according to Sky sources.
