Who could the Premier League teams draw in the Champions League last 16? Find out why Chelsea supporters could be worried ahead of Monday’s draw…
While Manchester United's 2-1 win over CSKA Moscow in Group A confirmed top spot for Jose Mourinho's men, while Liverpool's 7-0 thrashing of Spartak Moscow saw them join Manchester City and Tottenham in finishing as group winners.
But Chelsea surrendered top spot in Group C with a 1-1 draw at home to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday and could subsequently face a more daunting draw in the first knockout stage. Here we look at the potential opponents for all five Premier League sides through to the last 16...
Who's qualified?
Winners: Barcelona, Besiktas, Man City, Man Utd, PSG, Roma, Tottenham, Liverpool
Runners-up: Basel, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus, Real Madrid, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk, Porto
Group winners face runners-up
Winning your Champions League group means avoiding one of the other seven sides who topped their group. So United, City and Spurs know they will be up against teams who finished second.
The four teams to have secured second spot on Tuesday were Basel, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Juventus and while Real Madrid were confirmed to finish second before their 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund, they were joined on Wednesday by Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk and Porto.
Any other restrictions?
In the round of 16, teams cannot be drawn against sides who they faced in the group stages. That means Chelsea cannot draw Roma, Manchester United cannot be drawn to play against Basel, and Tottenham will not be up against their Group H opponents Real Madrid.
It is also not possible for teams from the same country to be drawn against each other in this round so an all-Premier League showdown will have to wait.
Liverpool securing top spot, however, makes things even trickier for Chelsea. As a result of these restrictions, the Blues can only draw three teams in the round of 16: Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain or Besiktas.
The possibilitiesChelsea: Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, or Besiktas. Manchester United: Bayern Munich, Juventus, Real Madrid, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk, or Porto. Manchester City: Bayern Munich, Juventus, Basel, Real Madrid, Sevilla, or Porto. Tottenham: Bayern Munich, Juventus, Basel, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk or Porto. Liverpool: Bayern Munich, Juventus, Basel, Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk or Porto. When is the draw and when are the games?
