Zlatan Ibrahimovic nearing move to Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy -- sourcesThe LA Galaxy are inching closer to signing Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, multiple sources have confirmed to ESPN FC.
ESPN FC television analyst Taylor Twellman was the first to report the latest link between the Galaxy and Ibrahimovic, though a source cautioned that a deal isn't done.Sources have also said that Ibrahimovic, if he does indeed make the move, will be signed with the help of targeted allocation money, which means he will not take up a designated player spot. It's unclear at this point if sponsors or other sources are kicking in money to augment Ibrahimovic's salary.
The two sides have been down this road before, only for the devastating knee injury Ibrahimovic suffered last April to lead to a breakdown in the prospect of a deal at the time.
Ibrahimovic, 36, has since returned, making seven league and cup appearances this season. However, the former Sweden international suffered a setback at the end of December but is reportedly due to resume training next week.
The recent signing of Alexis Sanchez would appear to further limit the amount of playing time Ibrahimovic will be able to find with United.
That has cleared the way for the Galaxy to resume their pursuit, with one source stating that progress toward a deal between the Galaxy and Ibrahimovic is "the furthest along it has ever been."
Over the course of his illustrious career, Ibrahimovic has played for AC Milan, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan and Ajax before joining Man United in the summer of 2016.http://www.espn.com/soccer/soccer-transfers/story/3363900/zlatan-ibrahimovic-nearing-move-to-major-league-soccers-la-galaxy-sources
