West Ham are interested in signing free agent Patrice Evra, according to Sky sources

The former Manchester United left-back was sacked by Marseille earlier this season and banned for European club games by UEFA following an altercation with a supporter.

The former France captain was sent off before Marseille's Europa League defeat against Vitoria on November 2 last year, after lashing out at a supporter who Evra claimed was abusing him.

UEFA charged the 36-year-old under article 15 of their disciplinary regulations, which deals with the misconduct of players, banning him from their club competitions until June 2018.

Since he was dismissed by Marseille, Evra has posted regular social media updates of himself training to keep up his fitness, as well as spending time in the Middle East.

Evra had joined Marseille in January last year, also on a free transfer, signing an 18-month contract after ending a two-and-a-half-year stint at Juventus.

With Manchester United, the defender made 379 appearances and scored three goals in nine seasons in which he won five Premier League titles, the 2009 Champions League, three League Cups, five Community Shields and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Patrice Evra to undergo West Ham medical tomorrow: the details

Patrice Evra is set to return to England after his years at Old Trafford with Manchester United.
The French left-back has in fact agreed personal terms with West Ham and will undergo medicals with the Hammers tomorrow.
Evra is banned from European games after kicking a supporter during a Europa League match, but he is allowed to play in domestic competitions.
After a few months as a free agent, Evra is ready for a new adventure in the Premier League.

West Ham United are pleased to confirm the signing of the vastly-experienced Patrice Evra on a short-term contract.

Capped 81 times by France, the charismatic Evra has won seven league titles and the UEFA Champions League during an illustrious career with AS Monaco, Manchester United and Juventus.

Evra, who joins the Hammers on a contract until the end of June 2018 and will wear the No27 shirt, worked with Hammers manager David Moyes during his time at Old Trafford, and is looking forward to linking up with his old boss and returning to the Premier League.

“I’m really happy to be a Hammer, to be back in the Premier League and I love this game!” said the dynamic left-back, using the catchphrase he has made famous on his hugely popular Instagram channel.

“It’s amazing to be back and I am thankful to West Ham for giving me the opportunity to do my job. When I wake up and know I am going to work hard, to have fun with my teammates and give my best on the pitch, I want to say a massive thanks to West Ham, to the Chairman, to the manager to all my teammates, who have given me a nice welcome, my agent and my brother.

英超韋斯咸官網宣布，成功簽下現年36歲自由身的前曼聯隊長艾拉，他將會披上槌仔幫的27號球衣，而他與球會簽下的短期合約，將直至本季季尾結束。

艾拉在韋斯咸官網表示：「我很高興加盟韋斯咸和重返英超！我十分感謝韋斯咸給予我工作機會，我很高興早上起來，能夠與新隊友一起努力。我要特別多謝球會主席、領隊、所有隊友的歡迎和我的經理人。」
艾拉續指，得知有機會與前曼聯領隊莫耶斯重聚，已急不及待前往倫敦會見韋斯咸主席蘇利雲和簽約：「事情發展得很快，經紀人打電話告訴我要盡快從迪拜到倫敦，然後我就和前曼聯領隊莫耶斯及韋斯咸主席見面。這個交易可能在5分鐘內達成，因金錢不是最重要的問題，重點是我想加盟韋斯咸，協助隊友贏得更多比賽。這是我一生做得最快的決定，因彼此都需要對方，協議很容易達成。」
艾拉去年11月仍效力法甲馬賽時，曾在一場歐霸盃賽前受到球迷挑釁出腳踢向對方，其後被馬賽解約回復自由身，兼被歐洲足協判罰歐洲賽停賽七個月，但本土聯賽未有受停賽令限制，故無礙他為韋斯咸上陣。根據英超官網的賽程，艾拉最快有機會在3月18的英超賽事倒戈曼聯呢！
不過艾拉現年已經36歲，能否重拾當年在曼聯的高水平仍未可知，但他的後防隊友如薩巴列達已33歲、荷西方迪已34歲、占士哥連斯已34歲，到底這條老人防線能否幫到莫耶斯帶領的韋斯咸改善戰績，大家要拭目以待喇！
