West Brom central defender Craig Dawson has handed in an official transfer request to the club’s board, Sky Sports News understands.

Dawson sees his future away from The Hawthorns after they were relegated from the Premier League.

West Brom's new manager Darren Moore is desperate to keep the core of his squad together, though, and Dawson is a crucial part of his plans.

Both Dawson and goalkeeper Ben Foster, who looks set to join Watford, refused to fly out for the team's pre-season training camp in Portugal on Tuesday.

West Ham and Burnley are understood to have had bids rejected for Dawson, who is believed to be frustrated by the board's hard-line stance over his future.

West Brom begin their Sky Bet Championship campaign at home to Bolton Wanderers on August 4.

West Brom defender Craig Dawson has handed in a written transfer request.

The 28-year-old refused to go on the Championship club's pre-season training trip to Portugal last week.

Burnley, Everton and West Ham are all interested in Dawson, who scored two goals in 28 league appearances last season as the Baggies were relegated from the Premier League.

However, West Brom are yet to receive an offer close to their valuation of Dawson, which is in excess of £20m.

New manager Darren Moore is keen to keep the defender at The Hawthorns, but it is yet to be seen if Dawson will train with the remainder of the first-team squad when they return on Thursday.
