Jerome Boateng in PSG talks over move from Bayern Munich

Jerome Boateng is in talks over a move to Paris Saint-Germain, says Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Rummenigge has told reporters in Germany that the centre-back's agents are in discussions with the French club to find the basis of a transfer.

Manchester United have also been interested in Boateng, who had a disappointing World Cup as Germany crashed out at the group stage.

Rummenigge said: "At the moment there is no direct contact between the clubs. But there is contact between his agents and PSG

"We have to wait, if we could find a basis for a transfer. Now we have to wait and see whether, at the end of the day, we find a basis on which we can agree on a transfer.

"We have to find a transfer fee that would be acceptable for both."

Boateng joined Bayern from Manchester City in 2011 and has made 258 appearances, winning six Bundesliga titles and the 2013 Champions League.

The 29-year-old also has 73 caps for Germany and was part of their 2014 World Cup-winning squad.

Was told earlier today that @ManUtd highly unlikely to get Jerome Boateng but since been told player still keen if he feels Utd really want him. Jose thinks it can be done. Were talking loan. Bayern wanted straight sale.

Man Utd are keen to bring Jerome Boateng to Old Trafford – but only on loan, rather than on a permanent basis, SSN understands.

Jose Mourinho still has the German international as his No 1 choice recruit – but privately behind the scenes at United there are fears over a permanent contract for a player with a chequered history of injuries.

Boateng, 29, suffered muscle and tendon injuries over the past three Bundesliga campaigns, missing 27 games in total since December 2016.

With one day left of the summer window, Mourinho is running out of time to find a new central defender. Privately, United believe Harry Maguire is not for sale at Leicester and as things stand, Yerry Mina’s chances coming to Old Trafford looks increasingly slim.

Executive Vice-Chairman Ed Woodward has made funds available to Jose, but is determined not to pay over the odds in the current market.
