Wolves near loan signing of RB Leipzig's Hwang Hee-Chan

Wolves are closing in on the loan signing of South Korean forward Hwang Hee-chan.

The 25-year-old RB Leipzig player is set to undergo a medical tomorrow ahead of a season-long loan at Molineux with Wolves having a £12 million option to buy.

Wolves have had a long-held interest in him. They watched him regularly during the 2019-20 season with Salzburg in Austria when Hwang, as part of a title-winning team which scored 110 goals in 32 games, notched 16 times and provided 22 assists in 40 matches in all competitions.

Salburg played 4-4-2 or a 4-2-2-2 and he briefly struck up a prolific partnership with Erling Haaland, with the pair combining for goals on 11 occasions in the 17 matches they played together.

Hwang has find life tougher in the Bundesliga in the past 18 months, scoring only three times in 29 matches. For South Korea he's earned 37 caps and scored six goals.

During the 2019–20 season, Hwang drew plaudits alongside Salzburg's attacking players Erling Haaland and Takumi Minamino.[14] The trio were particularly praised for their exploits in the Champions League, where Hwang was involved in eight goals by recording three goals and three assists,[15] and winning two penalty kicks.[16][17] Hwang's playing style has been described as energetic with accurate passing and an eye for dribbling.[18] In all competitions, Hwang had a remarkable season scoring 16 goals and providing 22 assists in 40 appearances.[19]

#Wolves have signed Hwang Hee-chan on a permanent deal after triggering their option to buy him from RB Leipzig.
