Wigan sign Spain Under-21 defender Adrian LopezWigan have signed Spain Under-21 defender Adrian Lopez until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old free agent left Deportivo La Coruna at the end of last season and had been training with Wigan while waiting for clearance from Fifa.
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez told the club website: "It's great to see Adrian's desire to play for Wigan Athletic can finally be fulfilled.
"We've been waiting a while for the Fifa resolution."
Lopez played 39 times for Deportivo and has represented Spain twice at U21 level, experience which Martinez feels will stand the defender in good stead for the future.
"He is a defender who is very calm under pressure, and is a great reader of the game," explained Martinez.
"He is a player with a fantastic football education, coming through the ranks of Deportivo La Coruna and playing for Spain at Under 19 and Under 21 level, which gives him a unique development and makes him a defender with real potential."
Lopez will wear squad number 24 for Wigan.
