Genoa have confirmed the signing of Mauro Boselli on loan from Wigan until the end of the season.
The Argentine striker arrived at the DW Stadium from Estudiantes last summer with a reputation as one of the most lethal finishers in South American football.
However, he has found it difficult to adjust to his new surroundings, failing to score in eight Premier League appearances to date.
Roberto Martinez therefore decided it might be beneficial to send him out on loan and Genoa have now snapped him up.
A deal between the clubs was agreed some time ago but there were initially complications over Boselli's medical.
The 25-year-old has been sidelined with a hamstring tear in recent weeks and Genoa feared it could be a serious problem.
Those concerns have now been cleared up and Boselli could be fully fit again within a fortnight.
The Italians have also announced that they will have the option to sign Boselli permanently in the summer, which comes as a surprise after Martinez said he could still be a 'massive asset' to Wigan next season.
