Liverpool offer Eto'o one-year deal



Liverpool have made former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o a contract offer as they look to bring the player to Anfield.

Liverpool, who are on the verge of signing Mario Balotelli from AC Milan,

are also ready to push through a deal for Eto'o as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his attacking options before the close of the transfer window.

Eto'o is a free agent after leaving Chelsea earlier this summer and has attracted the interest of a number of clubs in Europe, America and the Middle East.

It is understood the Cameroon international's preference is to remain in England and the Premier League after enjoying his one season at Chelsea last term.

Ajax and Everton have both expressed an interest in Eto'o, but it appears Liverpool are now in pole position to land the former Barcelona and Inter star.

Liverpool have offered Eto'o a one-year deal on ?93,000 a week with performance-related bonuses with the option of another year if he impresses at Anfield.

Should Eto'o and Balotelli join Liverpool it would see the two strikers link up for a second time after they played together at Inter.

Eto'o undergoes medical ahead of Liverpool switch



Samuel Eto’o has opted to join Liverpool and is undergoing a medical on Friday ahead of signing a one-year deal, Goal understands.

Everton’s late interest in the 33-year-old had threatened to derail Liverpool’s move, with Roberto Martinez’s side ready to offer a two-year contract,

but the striker is excited by the prospect of working under Brendan Rodgers.

The Cameroon international’s medical is taking place outside of the UK, while the deal could be finalised before Liverpool face Manchester City on Monday evening.

Eto’o is available on a free transfer having left Chelsea at the end of last season and had held talks with Ajax earlier this summer before the Dutch club pulled out of negotiations.

Eto’o scored 12 goals in 34 appearances for Chelsea last season but hit out at Jose Mourinho after the 51-year-old joked about not knowing the striker’s real age.

Liverpool are also poised to complete the signing of Mario Balotelli in a £16 million deal from AC Milan.

The Italy international has said goodbye to his team-mates at the Serie A club and has travelled to England for a medical.

Eto'o 係一個好補充，史毒如果傷左，搵返 Eto'o 頂都幾唔錯，不過 Borini 而家唔走都唔得，左邊鋒又滿人，前鋒又愈來愈多

btw 今個轉會窗 Arye 真係封神，成條前鋒線 upgrade 左成個級別，上年得 Suarez + Sturr，今年 Sturr Balo Lambert Eto'o，四線作戰，差唔多
