Betis loan for Santa CruzParaguayan to spend next 12 months in Spain
Manchester City are continuing to trim their wage bill following Real Betis' announcement they have signed striker Roque Santa Cruz on a one-year loan.
Thirty-year-old Santa Cruz joined City from Blackburn Rovers in 2009, but has struggled to tie down a first-team position with the big-spending Premier League club.
He returned to Rovers on loan for the second half of last season, however, he was not 100 per cent fit and made just seven Premier League starts for the Ewood Park club.
Prior to joining Blackburn in 2007, Santa Cruz spent seven years at German giants Bayern Munichhaving begun his career with Olimpia in his homeland of Paraguay.
A statement from Betis read: "After intensive negotiations, the sports management has managed to close the addition of Roque Santa Cruz, who will play next season on loan at Betis."Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini wants to cut some of his unwanted players from his squad and earlier on Monday afternoon it was announced Vladimir Weiss is joining Espanyol on loan.
