Mancini – I don’t have enough players!
The Man City coach Roberto Mancini saw his team drop two points after Sergio Aguero put his side two goals up before half-time at Fulham, but Bobby Zamora and Danny Murphy brought the Londoners back up to level pegging to salvage a point.
Mancini may have presided over the biggest spending spree in Premier League history, but he couldn’t help but blame City’s slip-up on the fact that he doesn’t have enough players!
Mancini said after the game: “We’re lacking players at this moment. I can only change the full-backs or the strikers.
“I have only two midfield players, as James Milner and Nigel de Jong are injured. I don’t have players at this moment.”
“After 2-0, it feels like a defeat but it could be a lesson for us. When you dominate a game for 60 minutes and score only two goals, it’s a problem.
“For 10 to 15 minutes, Fulham played very well but a top team like us needs to have more control of the game.
“I’m disappointed — we conceded stupid goals. Every game is like this in England. If a team is losing 2-0, they do not finish playing.
“All the players need to defend. For 10 minutes, we only defended with five or six players which is not good enough. My players probably thought they had done enough to win.”
With Man Utd’s 3-1 win over Chelsea saw them continue their perfect start, Man City dropped two points behind the leaders but still keep second place in the Premiership.
